Big Update!

Hello again so soon :) Yeah, I´m gonna add a lot of stuff before the end of this year, so I better get to it.

So, I´ve just added a poster I did for a new Norwegian childrens movie that will hit cinema in this country 15th of november. I did also make some concepts for the movie, early this year, helping them plan out the looks and feel of certain scenes, especially those that were heavily based of vfx. :) -It feels really good to actually be able to maintain my website a bit again, though I wonder for how long before Im burried in work again.

Tiny Update

Hello everyone, its been so long since I updated now. Believe it or not I have tons to show...But that is also the reason for my slowness, I´ve been more busy lately than I´ve been in a looong time. Phew! But projects are getting finished and I finally see light in the end of the tunnel. Too bad the winter is approaching though, since my whole summer has been a blur of work and stress.

Anyway, I´m adding 3 images that I did together with my fellow colleagues for a recently released game called Battle Forge / by Electronic Arts. These are not nearly the style I usually paint, but this was the art direction for the game - so it was a refreshing challenge.

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer. Personally I haven´t had my summer holiday yet, so a couple of weeks in Greece from next week will be nice. Anyway, I have more updates coming soon, but first off I thought I could dump in some old stuff I dug up from my hard drive. So, a couple of character concept sketches for Conan the hyborian adventure...way back when Funcom started the game project. Also a couple of quick concepts for some other project, which I do not know what happened to. ....-Old stuff, so don´t judge me ;)

Use my igoogle skin

Hello everyone !

Sorry as always for my not so frequent updates. I have SO much I want to show, but since pretty much everything are for stuff which haven´t been released yet, I cannot. But that means I will have a lot to show for the last half of this year.

Anyway, for fun I just made a JoachimArt skin for my igoogle page. If you are using igoogle (which I advise everyone to do) I think you should switch to my theme ;) ...

Amazing just gets even better!

I just had to make a follow up on my Trico blog. Apparently that was an unofficial leak and now they are showing the real trailer for the game. All realtime and I don't know how they do it but the game looks even more breathtaking than previous games from the Ico team. Just check it out! I'm a true fanboy :)

Next game from Team Ico, footage revealed!!!

Hey its me again. I haven´t added anything new to my site, but I really wanted to put this up in case someone reads this blog and haven´t watched the new leaked footage from the coming game of Team Ico. I don´t know if you know who I am talking about, they are the creators of the fantastic two games Ico and Shadow of the Colossus on the PS2.

I´ve been waiting so long for something new they might be up to. And finally something has been revealed, and I gotta say it doesn´t disappoint, I got goosbumps all over the place, the artstyle, the animations, the idea, everything is just awh!

Hello Again!

Hey everybody, short between updates this time.
I recently watched Monster & Aliens (funny and simple kids movie, I loved the presidents performance doing Axel F for the Alien Robot :D ) with my son at the Cinemas, then I saw this brochure with coming kids movies. One of the movies which will be released near Christmas is a Norwegian "high budget" kids movie called Julenatt i Blåfjell. To my surprise I saw they were using one of the concepts I've done for the movie as the poster for the movie. I didn't know the movie was announced, or at least I though I wasn't suppose to show my concepts. But, since this image is released I guess I can show it myself :D
Anyway, this is the design for the mountain, which pretty much the whole movie spins around. What happens in the movie happens inside this mountain. Chimney Pot ( a Norwegian special effects company) are working on making this mountain in full 3d. The movie will be with real actors of course, so the final renders for the movie has to be more realistic than my concepts. But my concepts will also be used in marketing material, books, etc...so they have to keep some sort of painterly feel that can work for children illustrations as well.

I just thought it´s about time to make an update...It´s not Christmas anymore :D

Anyway, I´ve added an illustration I did for Recommended Design in Norway, for a icecream package. This ice cream will be released this summer in Norway, so if you are Norwegian, make sure to eat a lot of Lion Ice from Hennig Olsen :)

I also added a bunch of mediochre stuff to my Trashcan, not worth mentioning but still...gotta add some trash too :D

I wish you all a happy Easter, and I hope despite the fact that my site has been forgotten lately I will throughout 2009 add more than I have done earlier years (but don´t punish me if I don´t live up to my promises :) , this year has so far been beyond hectic)

Slow as Hell!

Heheh, yeah I know I deserve a beating. Geez, I'm still announcing Christmas on my site, and we are in the end of March! And, I was suppose to become an active blogger and all.
I'm gonna really try to make some updates soon, I have a lot of stuff ready to show, a lot of interesting projects ...but tight schedules are holding me back from updating my site.
For useless info, I just bought a brand new 3.06 GHz iMac, gotta say that's one lovely machine ! I can't believe I've spent 15 years on pc with a wacom tablet dying randomly on photoshop startup (I hope this is a common problem)...I'm not used to a OS that runs so fast smooth and without any problems, and looks good too :) I've become a fanboy I think.

And spring is about to burst here in Norway after 6 months of nearly being absent (or at least it feels that way when it's cold and snowy), good times these days...iMac and spring :D -what more can you ask for?

Finally our tiny Iphone game is available at the AppStore ! So if you have an iPhone, be nice and download it! It's not a GREAT game, but I'm happy with the outcome, since this is my first iPhone game and it was started and finished developed within 2 days :D

It's a simple and fun game. Wouldn't be bad with an online highscore, but it was never time for that.
It was made by Me, Joachim Ante (programmer at Unity 3d) and Chester Lawrence. At the same time, me and Chester provided art for other small iPhone games that was made at the Unity Game Camp. . . so a busy but fun weekend.
